I see you’re liar and am leaving the discussion.

Problems are punished on Reddit, stupid ‘I just switched to Mint’ posts rewarded.
You MUST be aware that document editing, CAD, photo editing, video editing, and gaming suck on FOSS. -It’s an objective truth. Your propaganda has been debunked so many times.
I run a Wayland desktop with no issues
Useless anecdote that ignores all the factual issues still present in Wayland.
Mint works well for a lot of people
Mint forums and discussions say it doesn’t for many more.
are very usable on most hardware
I don’t see how fetch, htop, and screenshot make a computer ‘useable’. Useable for reddit karma farming?
It depends, are you someone that thinks 16-year-old Wayland is ready? Or Linux is ready for desktop? How much broken-ness and insecurity is acceptable?
I have no issue with using the terminal myself, but you’re expecting other people to use something that’s foreign and unneeded when it’s not even safe to do so. Copying scripts from the internet is dangerous, and even a minor typo when you know what you’re doing can bring your system down. -Which happens even to senior system admins at times.
Some people don’t want to run Linux for the same reason they don’t want a job where a slightly off measurement in a chemical factory can destroy a town.
More than you enjoy taking cheap pot shots.
What OS is forcing updates? -Not Windows. Desktop Linux users are so self-blinding that they ignore the main reason that they end up distro-hopping. (The never ending ‘
yourmy faultyouI chose the wrong distro’ excuse.)
You do realize that it’s common for Desktop Linux users to not update because it’s more prone to breakage than Windows right?

Linux@lemmy.ml•What's your favourite "just works, day after day" Linux software?English
216·6 days agoIt ‘was’ uCollage, but whiny, obnoxious, ungrateful LiGNUts ruined it like many other unpaid softwares by driving a critical developer (Ueberzug) to quit or sellout.
Many LiGNUts probably work for Microsoft, because Microsoft gains when they cause issues, and mislead and lie to people.

Thanks for the support!

17·10 days agoSorry, do you have an actual argument? Even LiGNUxers often know Mozilla is shady af. Decades ago told us they can only exist because of our donations while using those donations for politics while making bank off Google. The only more scandalous browser I’m aware of is Brave. -But go ahead with your lol, teehee type responses if that’s your bag.

244·10 days agoGonna ignore the sad attempts at rebuttal by someone that appears to be out of touch with reality (shunning social interactions?).
Where I live? -It’s replacing depressed and lonely artists and writers. -That shit often isn’t healthy or a good way to get human interaction / attention. Engineer? -Can be high stress with lives on the line, it will also be a waste of time / schooling for many. (You’re also arguing for their accuracy here). Enter productivity sooner: retire sooner. The other jobs you mention are high pay that grunt and migrant workers can profit from.
People that compare their wealth against a billionaire don’t realize that the billionaire is inspired and the wealth benefits all in capitalism. Neither pure capitalism nor communism succeed. China isn’t pure communism.

16·10 days agoWhere apps aren’t rated by users (so they can be warned of crap), where apps go abandoned and users aren’t notified, and where apps aren’t even curated. -All security issues. I hate Google more than anyone else, but making using crap like that more difficult is for their own good.

110·10 days agoEdge: It has native privacy tools others don’t, sane default settings that can be changed, a curated extension store that is more effective than mv3, it still supports uBlock Origin, it’s not from some shady company like Mozilla or fly by night F-Droid garbage. F-Droid won’t even notify you if an app is abandoned, not updated as fast as elsewhere or give ratings from users.

Trained by the same thing humans are.
-
Video games are worse and get worse as they run 100% constant and are constantly evolving, not short bursts or getting more efficient over time like AI
-
Localized
-
More accurate than humans -especially humans on social media
-
AI is replacing shitty jobs; just like machines did in the industrial revolution

530·10 days agoLemmy despite having major advantages over Reddit, appeals more to conspiracy theorists, or contrarians. -People who read click-bait headlines and not the actual articles. People that like simplified explanations for things: “AI is bad for the environment”: **not ** "AI is getting more efficient and uses short bursts of processing (for simple questions or images), while computer gaming gets worse and runs 100% constant, and has the same toll on ram scarcity and environmental issues.
So, they gobble up all the negative headlines and parrot the anti-AI propaganda they’re fed.

Yeah, the Linux evangelists and their fake issues are rampant there huh?
