Aaaaannndddd ordered. Yeah, it’s expensive, but I think I’ll use it. More importantly, I want it.

      Oof yeah. That’s rough.

Maybe as a single unit and not a conversion it’ll be cheaper but right now all in for a Core One+ and 4 head INDX upgrade you’re talking $2k+. A Snapmaker U1 is half that and had a bigger print volume.

I was hoping a Core One with INDX would be reasonable but I have a feeling a U1 is more likely in my future.

I went the x1c route after the XL was too expensive to justify. Sold it after their first fuck up with the forced login that they put on the back burner (for now) and got a core one with the hope for Indx.

It just feels right to me to be able to control my printer and still have a modern machine that can be repaired in just about every way and where I control the software. So yeah, not the cheapest option but the most open one. That is what matters to me and although the prise for the indx is on the high side (especially for those of us on a budget) I don’t regret taking that path.

I used to compare it with using Linux as a desktop which was hard in 2003. It was a hassle but I am very happy watching the past 22 years of enshitifaction and seeing how easy Linux has gotten. Let’s hope prusa doesn’t go the of long forgotten Linux distros we lost along the way.

I thought the point of a nozzle changer was to save money compared to a full hotend+extruder changer, because you don’t have to double up as many parts.

But that INDX system is so expensive, it doesn’t make sense.

This describes all of Prusa for the last 3 years. They’ve definitely lost their edge in the face of modern competitors now that everyone has moved away from bed slingers.

Yeah… the industry moved far away and left them behind.

It’s pretty ridiculous to think that a Snapmaker U1 is cheaper than a Prusa MK4S. And for just €50 more than the MK4S you get a full enclosure for the U1.

Same, am I still going to buy one after others have been the guinea pigs to work out bugs? Yes, but that’s still a chunk of change.

I think I saw that the add-on nozzles end up being on the cheaper end though. Not sure what my plans are for those yet.

I’ll pick up a core L + INDX at the black Friday sale (assuming it’s discounted, and the reviews are positive)

It’s a lot up front and a long wait, but hopefully the bugs will be worked out and it’ll be a solid, long term printer.

My plan exactly. I’m not buying anything at that price until the reviews are in. I need what indx represents in my head, but I’m waiting for indications that my headcanon matches reality, both in terms of functionality, ease of use, and quality.

For real. The cost for 4 toolheads almost makes it not worth getting in light of the cost of 8.

I’d still get it if I had the money, though.

There was discussion about this on “the other site*” when the founder’s kits were released. The basic answer ended up being something like “since the nozzles heads are dumb, you’re still getting the same amount of smart (more expensive) components so there isn’t a lot of cost to save”.

*- I still lurk a few communities, but don’t interact. Fuck Spez.

Still cheaper than the XL 5 heads.

Looks like it’s only €230 for 4 heads, and it’s replacing the main tool head is the big cost of €440. And that kinda lines up with what a nextruder costs for the XL.

That’s what I’m saying. The difference between the 4 and the 8 is €230, which means it costs that much for the induction heads. Or about €60 a piece including the rack parts.

There is still a bunch of hardware that goes into the moving tool head/extruders to grab the induction nozzle.

So doing the math here, it’s about €440 for the extruder/electronics, and about €60 per induction nozzle+ housing.

I’m addition to the cost, I’m surprised that they don’t have an upgrade kit for the Core One L (at least, it doesn’t look like this one works with it), or that you can’t buy it as part of the base printer.

They address that in the FAQ at the bottom. It’s coming, the smaller one was just ready 1st (or they tried to split the traffic spike to the site too possibly). image pasted from the FAQ that says in bold text as a question: “Does the INDX work with CORE One L?” Then answered in normal weight text with “The dedicated kit for the CORE One L is coming at a later point. The CORE One+ version is not compatible with the L.”

Has anyone seen any recent pricing for the standalone kit? In a video a while back I remember them estimating around $250 for the base hardware and $40-60 for each nozzle. I’m hoping that $250 base price hasn’t gone out the window. I was planning on building a voron 2.4 later this year with the INDX in mind.

If that’s what they’re going with, that’s much more approachable, assuming it has most of everything you need to adapt most printers.

I wonder, what is the difference between the dedicated prusa kit, and the standard one? If the normal one is meant to convert any printer, why would one go for the more expensive set?

I’m sure a more integrated and stylistically integrated version is quite a bit more desirable to some so the extra cost covers that.
