Lemon, lime bitters is an Australian staple for a non alcoholic drink if you’re in a pub. Refreshing and tasty.

I’ll often order a “soda and bitters” (carbonated water with a few dashes of this) when I’m out with friends but don’t want to pound alcohol. It looks like a cocktail (so folks don’t ask why I’m not drinking), keeps me hydrated, gives me something to do with my hands, and tastes like Christmas. Highly recommend.

Just for those who don’t want to drink for religious or other reasons bitters are often alcoholic. A dash or six in a half litre of soda is still functionally nothing but just so’s you know.

Aren’t most bitters 30-40%? Have to check my collection of various bitters when I get home. I know for sure that actual vanilla extract is usually 15%+

Edit: also it’s always bothered me the angostura has the label go so far above the start of the bottle’s neck

Medically, a couple dashes of bitters is irrelevant. But people often don’t drink for philosophical, religious, or recovery reasons. For these people, zero means zero.

Non alcoholic bitters are available. They’re made with a glycerin base.

Sooooo…probably shouldn’t be drinking directly from the bottle should I?
