Iran war sparks EU proposal to reduce tax on electricity and encourage green transition
Electricity is taxed far higher than fossil fuels. Could a new EU proposal finally reverse this?
In other words, electricity was taxed so high to prevent a green transition.
Yeah, the fossil fuel lobbying definitely paid off for those companies. They really should start moving some of those subsidies into electricity and electric cars / sustainable public transport. There’s no reason not to. Battery tech is basically at the point that 95% of people could drive electrically with some minor adjustments so why not give it some more incentives?
Or the fossil fuel are not taxed enough, or even not taxed at all like plane fuel. Reducing taxes is reducing the money a country can invest into itself, in this case probably network development, green development support and regulation. This kind of idea is usually supported by capital owners.
Or the fossil fuel are not taxed enough
True, but to then tax solar energy is a move against solar energy. Accepting the tax on solar energy in the name of fairness under those conditions is deception.
It’s about fucking time already. Some incentives on that would be nice.
