It’s only on devices running Google Shit Services. In other words, if you’re on an AOSP device with no Google Apps installed, you’re fine.

They are currently installed but I don’t really want them for anything. Might be time to install another OS on my phone. I haven’t even logged into a Google account on it. I don’t need them.

Then I would see if your phone supports lineage OS since it doesn’t come with Google Play Services and Google Apps by default.

I haven’t had a phone with Google Apps or Google Play services on it since 2019 and it works perfectly well.

Actually, I’d say it even works better, because then you don’t have all that spyware draining your battery and taking up system resources. So, I can make do with a cheap phone and get good performance out of it.

Fair phone 4, I know it supports e/OS and you can even buy some of their phones with that installed. PostmarketOS is another but I don’t think everything works properly.

Calyx will be a more secure option compared to e/OS once the next stable release comes out.
