your dad is probably the most technically proficient person i’ve heard of. most people i know using slackware are only using it in an enterprise server environment with a team to support it
yeah he’s in his 70s and has been using computers for longer than I’ve been alive (i’m in my 40s). the minimalist nature of it appeals to him. likes really getting under the hood of linux so to speak. says he doesn’t like the “bells and whistles” of other distros.
He figured out suckless stuff before I did and convinced me to switch to DWM and ST which I have and he was right, I much prefer those over other WMs and Terminals. He once tried Gentoo but didn’t have the patience for it.
this will make my Dad happy, he uses Slackware and I can’t convince him to use any other distro.
