Safety Last (1923) starring Harold Lloyd. I think it’s one of the funniest movies ever. Seen it dozens of times.

15·6 days agoLate in my first year of grad school, I was tasked with showing a possible applicant around the college. One of my friends at school heard he was applying. She knew him from undergrad and told me he was a nightmare but didn’t go into specifics. Since I worked directly with the head of my department, she pleaded with me to tell them to reject this guy from the school. Even before she told me about him, I could tell from my brief interaction with him that he was prick, but I didn’t feel comfortable going along with that. His application got approved.
Cut to a year later, me and her are having to file detailed harassment complaints against this guy because he was indeed a nightmare. The school put him on probation. He kept causing all sorts of problems for me, her, and other students. I really wish I had listened to her.
I don’t use the water bottle kind. I might switch to one because it’s less unusual to be seen filling up a water bottle in public versus a tank or cup.
Mine is a cup that screws onto the device, and acts as a cover when not in use. It’s relatively compact, about the size of a flashlight. I keep it in my backpack or purse.

Mine does. It’s a little cup that screws on. Some varieties allow you to screw on your average disposable plastic water bottle.
Portable battery powered bidet.

15·1 month agoI was homeschooled k-12 because my parents didn’t want me to learn about evolution and “communism”. I didn’t have any close friends ever growing up because there was just no opportunity for that. I didn’t have extended participation with other kids on a daily basis like I would’ve gotten if I was in a real school. At best I had some playtime outside of school hours with a few of my neighbors and there was things like Boy Scouts and tennis club. But it wasn’t enough. It really stunted the development of my social skills. Throughout my 20s I was I having to learn a lot about how to make and maintain friendships and just like socialize and talk to people and date and such, things that most people would’ve done in their tweens and teens.
I guess one nice perk was I never really had to deal with bullying as a kid? But then when I encountered bullies as an adult (terrible roommates, colleagues, coworkers etc) I didn’t have the skills to deal with them well.
I’m in my mid 30s now, and I still struggle with socializing but I’m better at it. I’ve been in a relationship for 4 years and I’m relatively content with my life at least.
There was this late 90s show called Sliders where this team travels to different parallel Earths with different histories. I would like to see that rebooted.
