Yeah, see this is why I went with Linux Mint Debian Edition instead of Ubuntu-flavored Linux Mint. I know the Mint guys strip out most of the less-desirable stuff that ships with Ubuntu, but at that point you may as well have just started with Debian. Seems easier to go forward from straight Debian instead of working backwards from a slopified Debian-based distro.

Canonical is just another shitty corpo using FOSS to masquerade as a “good guy”.

I just run Docker CLI and Dockge on top of it. Works great. Dockge gives me the general “most-used” controls, and if I need to do anything more advanced I can just drop into the terminal.

So is everything else. But KeePass has been a highly reputable password manager for close to 20 years now.

I have an HP Spectre x360 running KDE Plasma w/Wayland on LMDE7. Its fine in tablet mode. Scrolling works as expected and it has a virtual keyboard as well.

I bought a mouse jiggler for my work laptop. Not the dongle, no - just one that goes underneath an actual mouse; it’s stupid simple.

Ever since I had an “awakening” about AI and Microsoft trying to force their “Recall” “feature” down everyone’s throats (which btw was the catalyst for my wiping Windows out of my home entirely - I now run Linux exclusively), I’ve been extremely wary of doing anything not 100% work-related on my work laptop. My boss doesn’t care as long as our tasks get done, but I don’t trust the upper management with that kind of power.

And for what it’s worth, since I know someone will try to call it out: I only use it while I’m at my desk, and I’m very much in the habit of locking things before walking away. Mainly because I don’t like having to poke the trackpad every 10 minutes just to keep an eye out for messages while playing a game or surfing on my personal device (which is almost never connected to the guest network).

Daniel is extremely paranoid, and I don’t say that lightly - he is mentally ill. And any interaction with him will reveal the severity in short order.

Not to say he isn’t a genius, and I stand by my theory that Graphene OS is as secure as it is now because of that paranoia. But he needs serious psychological help.

Newsflash: They’ve been doing this since day 1. If you use facial recognition and/or any of the advanced editing features, congratulations, your photos have been subject to AI acanning.

Yeah, that was my first thought. I’m a Debian user by choice (25+ years experience with it) and largely prefer the “older but extremely stable” package management method they have employed for so long. Same reason I drive Toyotas; they tend to use older-but-proven tech.

This reason is why Debian has the “rock solid” reputation in the first place. It’s baffling that there are people who refuse to accept that fact.

For managing screen time on a per-user basis, timekpr-next is a pretty solid tool. I use it for the “family” PC (old Macbook w/ Linux Mint). We still keep an eye on their usage, of course.
