

Building anything underground is extremely expensive and energy intensive, as you have to constantly pump ground water and pour concrete to keep walls from breaking under pressure of tons of soil.
So yeah, underground could work, but better used sparingly when benefit outweighs the costs, like maybe in areas that could go literally uninhabitable on the surface. Otherwise not worth it.

Hi everyone, I joined 4 weeks ago, but missed the July community discussion.
I was picking a Lemmy instance, and for me, what sealed the deal to go for SLRPNK was finding out f-hub servers run on used hardware and are 70% green energy to lower carbon footprint. I appreciate the effort and transparency
So far I love SLRPNK. I don’t know anyone IRL who is eco-conscious, so seeing people also discuss ways to reduce food waste, or not using AC on principle is reassuring.
Quick question though, where may I share a photo of a microhabitat for birds in my yard? Previous owner left it, it’s awesome
