Considering you posted on lemmy.world and the reply came from dbzero, it’s likely banned by lemmyworld.
The instance? No, a db0 user being able to reply herem proves the opposite. The instance is not fully blocked by lemmy.world. This is the only example that comes to mind of specific community defederation vs. instance as a whole.
No choice absolutely or in a practical sense?
You don’t need to be registered there. Just at one that’s federated with it.
Seemingly very anti intellectual property.
