There were still alternatives. You still had choice. There was Ubuntu Gnome, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, etc.

Now no matter which one you pick, you get Snaps shoved down your throat.

I mean, you can say the same about Fedora and RedHat and OpenSUSE and SUSE, no?

The only really bad release so far was 24.04 with introduction of Snaps and installing Snap packages when using apt.
