I’ve had an ortlieb daypack for a few years and so far it’s as good as new. It’s made in Germany and they have a lot of options.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Help to choose between freefilesync and syncthingEnglish
2·10 days agoThanks, as I didn’t find a straightforward way to install syncthing on the NAS I will probably keep things simples with either freefilesync or rclone, mentionned elsewhere in this thread. Now I know those are good options so the time I invest will not be lost !

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Help to choose between freefilesync and syncthing
1·10 days agoI was not aware that syncthing needs to be installed on both side. The NAS runs OMV and I didn’t find the extension in the plugin page of the dashboard. As OMV is based on Debian there is certainly a way but for the time being I will do things as simply as possible !

1·10 days agoThanks to both of you. Rsync doesn’t seems to have an “official” windows release, while rclone does, so I’ll look into that.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•as a noob, should I connect jellyfin with tailscale using OIDC?English
2·12 days agoUh, I never heard of Yunohost before but it actually seems awesome ! I bookmarked it. It might lead me to start with getting serious with selfhosting sooner than expected. The downside is that it will lead me to ask even more stupid questions to this community…

2·12 days agoI’ve been wanting to learn basic self hosting for a while but I don’t really have the time to dig into it now (I have two young kids, a job that takes a lot of brandwitch, and brand new medical problems). I’m only in this situation because Jellyfin was waaaay to easy to setup locally so now I want more. It’s all their fault.
In a few years I’ll dig more, for myself and to be able to teach some basic tech literacy to my daughters when they grow up.

2·12 days agoOk, I guess it’s not stupid if it works! And it seems easy. I’ll try netbird first (recommended below), as their tutorial on how to setup jellyfin seems pretty comprehensive. If I fail this is number two on my list !

71·13 days agoThey all seem self hosted and I am not yet to the point where I feel at ease with that as it seems to be “exposed” (I don’t really know what it means to be honest). I do intend to get into this kind of stuff later though.

7·13 days agoNetbird has a free tier that they host, It seems simple enough and it is open source! That’s a lot of perks. I’ll start by trying that !

8·13 days agoGithub appears to be owned by microsoft so I’d rather avoid that if possible (on principle), but if the rest fails I’ll fall back to that !

2·13 days agoThanks, everyone. That sounds like a viable option. Is it as secure as Tailscale in terms of privacy?
I meant : can you disable the internet connection ? Reading the other comments I guess not…
Oh shit. You don’t have the option to disable it?
Side question : is your car connected to the internet ?

71·24 days agoThen you live with the guilt, which is still better than lying to yourself, but still pretty hard. That is were most of us are.

Yet you are doing it right now. Curious.
