I just came from another post that reminded me of this so I’ll go with it: gerrymandering does not affect your vote in statewide races.
I kept coming across people before the 2024 US elections saying their vote wouldn’t matter in states like TX because of gerrymandering. No. No! It screws you in representation, but not the votes that are a raw count like governor or president.
So make one? That’s the benefit of Wikipedia.
FWIW, I’ve never heard of it or her. Is she famous or influential for something other than this case? Which I don’t say to minimize the deaths she caused, but because not every news article/criminal case/lawsuit/whatever rises to the level of interest to justify a Wikipedia page.

The point was not that rent and lease are opposites of each other, but that both each contain opposite meanings.
Rent means both to grant possession of a thing in exchange for rent AND to take a thing and hold in an agreement to pay rent.
Lease means both to grant by lease and to hold under lease.
So, put another way: “rent” has two opposite definitions, and “lease” has two opposite definitions.
Not that rent/lease are opposites of each other.

Also, can you elaborate on how the lease/rent examples mean the same thing? Because Merriam Webster defines them as two opposite things.
Maybe you just meant that they’re the same word, so even though they mean opposite things, they don’t fit OP’s question?

Gerrymandering makes many elections useless if you’re in the districted minority, so you and many who think like you don’t vote. Results come out showing a sweeping win for the majority, so you and others who think like you feel like you’re so far in the minority that there’s never a point to voting because you’ll never “win,” even in statewide elections.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a part of the calculus behind gerrymandering in the first place. Not only do you get the immediate representation you’re seeking, but also makes it so people who disagree just stop voting altogether.
