I think The Tick was similar, if I recall correctly. I still loved it as a kid.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a small thing you did that changed your life in a big way?
4·3 days agoOh yah. My last car was a hybrid (loved it!) but that was before EVs were very attainable. I got my current car a long while ago when someone smashed my last one to death. I loved seeing the regenerative braking work!
My car now is all gas, but she’s got low mileage and the ultimate “trim” or whatever and I love her and all of her million speakers and subwoofer very much.
I’d love an EV for my next car if I can find one that isn’t a privacy nightmare (my car is from the tail end of when you could get cars that DIDN’T phone home what you talk about in them) but hopefully I’ll have my current car forever and won’t have to worry about that.

6·3 days agoAhhhh I accelerate very quickly because it’s fun, and I brake very slowly because I like not wearing my brake pads down. So I really only accelerate hard if there’s a ton of space in front of me and good side-visibility so I don’t have to risk sudden breaking (obv not only for my brakes, but so I don’t hurt anything!)
But I am soooo accelerating fast at every safe opportunity because it just feels awesome lawl. Then again, in a good month, I’m going 100-200 miles or less (partner and I both gremlins) so the fuel expenditure is maybe 10 bucks a month. Not even that high.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a gadget or appliance that you purchased that you would wholeheartedly recommend to others?
3·4 days agoSomeone I know (who isn’t close to me geographically) said their laptop just broke and now they only have their phone… I wish I could get to them. I have like six computers waiting to be used for stuff, the rest of them I’m playing with/learning with!

3·12 days agoI’ve never been much into pron, and I haven’t been at ALL into it for like, decades now. I will never NOT stop to appreciate any well-drawn furry art, no matter what the subject is, no matter level of SFW/NSFW-ness, no matter how fucked up the subject matter is. I love cute/well-drawn furry stuff so much.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is that one software that you are using for 10 years and still loving it?
2·13 days agoSame! Anyone have reccos for Linux players that are like Foobar2000? It FEELS like a piece of software that should be on Linux hahaha
Edit: I’m reading it works great with Wine, but I’ve never used that before as I’m new to “as primary OS, non-CLI Linux” so I’ll try that later!

4·13 days agoFoobar2000 for me for audio! Handles hundreds of thousands of songs on a standard USB HDD over the network incredibly fast, plays every audio file, best tag editing features I’ve ever seen, full conversion from lossless to other formats, a hella minimal interface dark before they was a common thing, and a tiny footprint.
Incredible piece of software. I love it so much.

1·13 days agoNo worries, no rush! It’s gonna be a weekend project, I think. I’ve got a cluster of separate RPis all doing different stuff, an unused Pi 5 8GB, and some new Lenovos… I think I can condense everything to one machine hahaha.
Right now I’m running Pi-Hole on a headless Pi and OMV on a second headless Pi, the OMV is just sharing a couple HDDs. If I wanted everything on one lil Lenovo through Docker, would you have any advice for a distro? Should I just pop Mint on it and set it all up that way?
(Very new and learning, currently have a Pop! desktop that’s been a champion for game stuff while I try to find a new SSD to switch my main game desktops to Linux)

2·13 days agoThat would be very helpful for me, thank you so much! I am VERY new to docker, but managed to get something difficult up and running with it (a modded game server) with a lotttt of trial and error. I imagine it’ll be a lot easier to get something much less specific going!

1·13 days agoThank you! I’ll do some digging. The dang thing has mounting holes but they’re NOT VESA. But 40USD for an IPS 1080p panel that can be powered AND video’d through one USB-C cable I can’t complain about!

1·13 days agoWhat kinda monitor arm is that? I have one for a lil monitor I have but it uses a clamp on the top and bottom of the screen instead of screwing in. I’m looking for one that doesn’t stress the screen with so much pressure!

2·14 days agoDang, I got a 2015 car kitted out (tint, roof racks, sub, rims, a million speakers, leather everything, glass roof with limo lighting under retractable electronic cover) that I found for a steal accidentally at like 50k miles and it has ONE camera—backup camera! (Dashcam too, but no WiFi or Bluetooth and i installed that myself) Of course, she’s got a GPS and all that; if I had the knowhow, I’d disconnect it.
I hope I keep her forever. I love her.

2·14 days agoNiiiiice! I did SLI 7900GTs when Crysis came out and it ran at like 40+ FPS even with explosions on screen! It cost me an unholy amount…
the machine I now use for Beat Saber wasn’t as crazy as the Crysis machine: it’s an i5-4790k, 16 or 32GB DDR3, and a couple SSDs. I replaced its 1070 just because I had a better card laying around. I hope it works well for many years to come! It’s also SOMEHOW inexplicably powered by a 500w bronze semi-modular PSU that seems like it’s going to go on forever into eternity… I hope so, it’s been so good to me!
My copy of it is old and of poor quality—I will be finding a high quality rip of it and marathoning it tonight. I haven’t seen it in nearly a decade!
