If this is like similar clocks I’ve seen, the pendulum is only esthetic and has almost no weight. The friction of the clock resting against the wall would be more than enough to counteract any forces the pendulum would exert. Two holes shouldn’t be necessary, but it will have to be pretty close to level for the tiny electromagnet to work.
Absolutely my take. People who are harmful to society need to be removed from society for the good of society. These people should be treated humanely, and we need to accept that a great many of them behave the way they were taught. What we need to do while society is being protected from them is teach them how to behave in society. For those that accept that their behavior needs to change and learn new behavior, great. Release them on parole, monitor and assist them to make sure the new behavior is being maintained and let them continue with their lives. For those who don’t or won’t learn to behave in society, keep them isolated from society in a humane environment with people there to make sure the recalcitrant and incorrigible aren’t harming themselves and each other, and move on.
And all that leads to the question of what is harmful to society…

That was more common in the US than in other jurisdictions. In Canada, they capped out torrenting at $500 for all instances prior to the suit, which means the lawyers were losing money for the copyright holders. Also, it was determined that if you didn’t store the files, i.e., streaming, it wasn’t illegal at all. After that, I stopped hearing about non-commercial copyright infringement cases in Canada (and I can’t legally justify torrenting).

Well, that seems like quibbling. Outside of legality, we’re talking 2 months.
But this reminds me of a joke.
A cop is doing his patrol on the night shift and notices a car parked at the local makeout spot a little before midnight. The interior lights are on and things seem pretty quiet. He pulls up and taps on the window. The driver rolls it down and asks how he can help. The officer sees a young man and woman sitting in the car, both reading a book. He asks if everything is okay and asks for ID. They both provide it. He notices the girl’s 18th birthday is tomorrow and the guy’s already an adult. He asks them what their plans are and the boy glances at his watch and says, “Well, for the next twelve minutes or so, we’re going to keep reading these books.”
