So, this is the place where I’m going to be generally hanging out and trolling around, while my Pixelfed, Mastodon, and Blacksky accounts are going to be primarily art posting accounts, and I also have a Nooki account.
I’m also going to start to be active more on here than on lemmy.org, so I’m making this my primary Lemmy account now.
I’ll link the other socials I’m varying levels of active on below, plus my lemmy.org account which I’m demoting to my secondary account if that instance is going to be more unstable from now on.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is an old movie that couldn't be made today?English
6·8 days agoThat movie wouldn’t see the light of day if it were to be made today.
Jaywalkers? Fix urban planning to where people don’t have to jaywalk to begin with, ie. start de-emphasizing stroads and car dependence already…
Murderers, rapists, and pedos? Those are a genuine threat to public safety and actually need to be locked away for that reason.

382·6 days agoAmerican History X, easily. In fact, that movie had a troubled production during the time it came out, but it would be censored to hell and back were it made today.
The original Robocop as well because Hollywood is too scared of violence nowadays, fun fact, the original Robocop almost got an NC-17 (then X) rating for violence alone and had to be edited 13 times to get downgraded to a hard R* rating.
*Hard R in the movie rating sense, is when an R-rated movie truly earns that R rating through having a lot of violence, gore, swearing, explicit content, or a combination of those factors. It’s when an R-rated movie is teetering on the edge of getting upgraded to NC-17, basically. This old AVPGalaxy post should go more into what the hard R rating entails. The original Robocop got downgraded to this from the NC-17 rating it almost got (X when that movie was in production) after 13 edits like I said.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what's a good protest song for anti-war, anti-ice, and anti-oligarchy?English
18·13 days agoRATM - Killing in the Name, and this one is particularly prescient right now with ICE roaming the streets given it was originally written to protest police brutality in response to the Rodney King riots.
RATM - Wake Up is also a good one as well.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is something that desperately needs to be standardized?English
0·1 month agoAn open phone standard, and no, I do not mean the ‘Open Handset Alliance’ that doesn’t even live up to its name, I mean like an ATX-equivalent standard for mobile devices.
An open-source ISA already exists in RISC-V, maybe that hypothetical ATX-for-mobile-devices standard could standardize around that for starters, as for an OS, it could standardize around non-Android Linux and maybe even some BSD mobile OSes instead of Google pulling some MS-in-the-'90s crap for Android like they’re doing right now.

You can’t, really, if your employer or school doesn’t provide their own hardware, best you can do is pick up a burner box to quarantine their stuff to in order to separate it completely from your main system.
