Vintage watches, pens, physical media (mostly records and blu-rays these days), started getting super into coffee so coffee gear now, probably a lot more I’m forgetting at the moment.
Edit: forgot to add: pottery mugs, kitchen gadgets, whiskey (if that counts), pewter artwork (very slowly, only have 3 pieces right now), I’d like to get more into collecting knives but that’s a bit too much money for me currently.
It means Canada Day was three days ago.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your favourite album of all time?
3·9 days agoYeah, that’s fair. Be Yourself will always be one of my favourite songs, same with Doesn’t Remind Me.
I’ve only ever heard good things about Chris, I’d like to think he was a good person. Same with Layne. And Kurt too, actually. I’m starting to notice a pattern here…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your favourite album of all time?
7·9 days agoMy favourite changes constantly, but right now it’s Masks Off by Jesse Welles. I’ve said it several times here before but Lemmy would really like his lyrics and more folks here need to check him out.

3·9 days agoI have a slight preference to their first album but they’re both excellent.
Nope, no lye. Her recipe is very similar to this one if you want a starting point. Hers is a bit different but I’m not sure what changes she’s made. She has followed that one exactly before though and it turned out really good.
My wife’s homemade bagels with cream cheese, if that counts.
If not, then sourdough rye with smoked Gouda.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some music venues you like in your part of the world?
2·12 days agoI know it might be cliche but Massey Hall is probably my favourite venue I’ve been to. I’ve only gone twice but loved the venue almost as much as the shows themselves.
Yeah I was on Apollo right up to the end, then came here. Made accounts on .world, .ca, and sh.itjust.works and stuck with the latter. I chose it because it’s based in east coast Canada and I’ve stuck with it because it’s been the most consistently reliable.
This is exactly how I feel too. When I want to listen to a record, it’s because I want to interact with the music. I have a whole process with my record equipment, stuff to mess with etc. Turntable, preamp, EQ, amp, speakers. Each is something I can play with. Records are very physical, I can see them and feel them to understand them. It’s a very interactive medium. I actually enjoy flipping the record. And I don’t care if it doesn’t sound as good, I usually buy cheap used records anyway that have a bit of surface noise. It actually feels warm and nostalgic, I enjoy that. It’s like listening to a live recording from the 30s or something. If I want amazing audio quality I’ll just get it digitally. When I listen to records that’s not what I’m going for, I’m going for the experience. It feels more human, where a CD feels clinical and sterile. That’s not how I want to describe an album, personally.
