There was another post here not long ago saying that they NEED the fires and the burn areas are regrowing faster and denser than the planted ones.
Who should we believe?
It’s a ‘both’ situation: redwoods and sequoias need periodic low-intensity fire, and can be killed by high-intensity fire. The latter has become more common because it’s warmer than it used to be, and because we suppressed a lot of the low-intensity fires allowing undergrowth to build up.
