SLO City Council decides to stick with distant, ambitious climate goal

This year’s Climate Action Plan Progress Report found that San Luis Obispo isn’t on track to meet the goal of carbon neutrality by 2035. Despite that, the SLO City Council chose to keep the goal in place.

For US cities, getting off of fossil gas for heating, and fossil fuels for transportation is quite difficult; it needs displacement faster than the natural replacement rate for cars and furnaces. And we’re not actually replacing 100% of vehicles or furnaces with electric models.
