The study, The Bright Side of Life: Optimism and Risk of Dementia, found that higher levels of optimism were linked with a decreased risk of dementia.
[…] there are several potential reasons for this: Optimistic people are likelier to exercise and practice other healthy behaviors, manage stress well, be cognitively engaged, and maintain strong social connections—all habits that can help protect brain health.
They also pointed out that optimism is not just an inborn trait; it can be learned and nurtured, even through simple practices like keeping a gratitude list
So, what have you been optimistic or grateful about recently?
I don’t want to stress about being optimistic
Nah fuck that shit, blank my brain out so I experience less of this shithole universe /s

My sister’s cancer treatment is going well.
I’m walking without crutches at long last.
Listening to stuff like this reminds me that I don’t have it that bad
Well done!
Freedom from crutches is such a good feeling. I still remember giving my last walking stick to charity … my wife said there was no harm in keeping it, but I wanted it gone for my own peace of mind.
I hope your sister continues to do well, too o7
I’m eternally grateful for all the medical expertise that meant I could get about on crutches, but omg it feels great to walk unaided.
I have the steadiest job ever in my life, that pays enough to live off of. That’s pretty fucking awesome.

Shouldn’t it be ofher way around in this world?
Person has to have dementia to be optimistic.
More true. Spot on.
Ouch. But true.
It was aomething, but I forgot.
uh oh
I’m optimistic about seeing the fall of the dread empire in my lifetime.
Need some clothes to go with it, but I am optimistic I might be able to get a somewhat high ranking at a costume contest at the college I am attending that is coming up. Entering the fantasy category since I already have a snow leapord fursuit head that has 3 eyes. Seems pretty fantasy for me. Just need some clothes to fit both the theme and with my head/paws/tail.
I’m being reasonable and not saying I’d win since there will undoubtedly be better costumes, but I’m still hoping and aiming for a high ranking.
It’s increasingly likely that my method of death will be instant vaporization, which is relatively painless.
I earn more than enough to get everything I need, £29k.
Is it correlation or causation? I ask because I’ve seen other evidence which seems to indicate that depression is an early indicator or mental deterioration.
I have never been optimistic about anything in life ever. Not going to start. I shall embrace the dementia future.
I am very optimistic. But according to that data, I would need to be in the top 5% most optimistic people to counter the risk increase from the medication I take.
