I’d like to see the same things as you, though it seems that infighting among the like-minded must be a common human psychological trait. That would explain the tons of barely differentiated Catholic denominations and the hundreds of Linux distributions.
It helps me to think of it in terms of academic debate. We may vigorously disagree on sometimes trivial points, but we continue to all advance in the same direction in spite of those disagreements.
