Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Snapchat are launching a counteroffensive to impose chat control on European citizens.
“Today, with the expiration of the ePrivacy exemption that allowed the use of technology to detect child sexual abuse, Europe risks leaving children around the world less protected from the most abhorrent forms of abuse.”
the only abuse that happens is directly from these companies and their respective owners/CEO’s. In fact, this push they are doing is so they can abuse more people
We need to stop using all of these companies. OS, and why don’t we OS our own search engine? Because the corporate ones are all proper fucked now.
Easier said than done with the monopolies they have on it all. One by one they are all bending the knee.
Decentralisation is the only way. I’ve only just recently signed up on here, how does moderation etc work? Not to be lazy in asking but I was a bit thrown off by having to submit my email to sign up. I’ve also been trying Mirage after being taken down from Reddit and wasn’t asked for any personal information to sign up on there.
I am new here as well, I will have to check out this Mirage I have not heard of that, I did hear on here that there is an instance that does not require an email to sign up, it is a world related instance as I recall but I did not write it down.
But you can at least for the moment just make a new account on a new instance with the same email without anything following you, unless the moderators are on both instances, which is a pretty common occurrence.
I think the piefed developers are working on fucking you across the entire fediverse over the moderators’ decisions on any instance however.
Reddit keeps chasing me off as well, no permaban but they have made it pretty clear they don’t want me there. I imagine it is government related because I have nothing but overwhelmingly positive karma.
@teyrnon oh, how boring… The usual techno-libertarians who think Reddit is a den of tankies and think they can solve the world’s problems with blockchain (but who view democracy with suspicion).
The fediverse is already capable of managing federated forums: Lemmy, Piefed, NodeBB, Mbin, Friendica…What is your deal, I didn’t say any of that. Reddit does blow though, and mastadon is popularity contest, and lemmy is a mini reddit in the context of moderators exercizing unchecked authority with no checks, since you ask.
You aren’t going to overthrow silicon valley with your attitude I will tell you that, not with your reading comprehension either I would suspect from your weak attacks on me for shit I didn’t say.
@teyrnon I’m sorry if you misunderstood, but I have no opinion about you and I’m not passing judgment. The “usual tecnolibertarians” are those at Mirage, a stillborn project. The latest in a series of projects based on so-called “free speech,” which in reality is just the revenge of the most frustrated and manipulated classes.
Oh sorry I misunderstood. I was afraid this mirage would end uip being something like that, which is why I’m on the fediverse in the first place and not these other tech sponsored projects. I almost asked the guy but figured it was.
daily reminder that most perpetrators of CSA are people who know the victim irl, especially family
@privacypride @echo_pbreyer @privacy now it’s clear, they show who is behind #chatcontrol initiative, who can push European politicians with their enormous mass on money
every accusation is a confession
If they’re focusing on children suddenly, you know it can’t be good.
