We have to unite to get enough people together so we can get rid of those Meta products, especially Instagram & WhatsApp!

Thank you for the question! Yes I think so, in the short time since reddit.com/r/DeMeta has been active (and hopefully [email protected] soon), there has been a surprising amount of people finding it helpful. The plan is to get a certain percent of all people to the other platforms, so once normies join there will be enough activity to keep them :)

E.g. if 25% of people only use Signal instead of WhatsApp, the others will very likely also keep it as a 2nd app and slowly maybe get away from WA :)

Alright so what is your comment doing to help get “the normal people” to do this?

im not. I don’t think they will. I think we can be an option and we can stay away from it but getting everyone off of it would be like trying to get everyone to stop watching tv. I mean more power to you but I just don’t see it happening. At least not in this we get everyone off way. I think we can improve till its just a better option. Its like science fiction and fantasy were niche things but hey lewis was kinda right that it was getting hip to be square. If people come it will be more organic and likely will also result in a lot of corpo prescence.

Eh. I have half a foot in terminally-onlineland and half a foot in normie-land and I don’t use Facebook. One friend moving off Instagram got me to pull the trigger to do the same. It’s possible, and showing people you can and some steps can help make it less intimidating.
