For me, it may be that the toilet paper roll needs to have the open end away from the wall. I don’t want to reach under the roll to take a piece! That’s ludicrous!

Nobody turned it into an acryonym, it just IS an acronym. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. The reason it’s pronounced with a hard G is because Graphics is a hard G.
